Would you like Everything with Fries?

Posted by: alkanphel on: June 28, 2010

A few days ago I was invited to join in a food tasting session at Everything With Fries’s newly opened outlet at Orchard Central. I’ve always wanted to try out their food since I heard about their name because it was rather interesting – did they really serve everything with fries?

Goto Japanese Restaurant is a kaiseki restaurant set in the heart of Singapore. This small restaurant was set up by Goto Hisao, the owner and chef who was formerly the chef to previous Japanese ambassador in Singapore. I had read about the exquisite quality of their food served here at Goto from the other blogs and so [...]

Dim Sum at 126 Eating House

Posted by: alkanphel on: June 21, 2010

126 Eating House is a pretty famous Geylang dim sum joint, located nicely at 126 Sims Avenue! There are lots of reasons why people love to come here – food is cheap, comes in large portions, and it’s open 24/7. This is baby ikan bilis porridge, I love the crunch of the crispy fish in [...]

Seared Scallops Risotto

Posted by: alkanphel on: June 16, 2010

Risotto was one of the dishes that I have been putting off for a long time. I had some extra scallops in the fridge that I wanted to use for pan-searing so I decided to combine them both together to make pan-seared scallops risotto! So of course the main ingredient are scallops, and the best [...]

Tandoori Chicken

Posted by: alkanphel on: June 13, 2010

Ironically out of all the famous Indian dishes, the one I’ve had the least is tandoori chicken! In an immense bout of contradictory laziness, I decided to make it rather then go out and eat it. So I gathered the usual suspects – ginger, onion, yogurt and garlic. The spices are garam marsala, coriander and [...]

K Ki ケーキ:: A little slice of Japanese cake heaven!

K Ki is a tiny little cake shop in Club Street that specialises in making Japanese style cakes. These cakes are usually small, delicate and complex, the Japanese style of making them. The shop is partnered together with another shop in the same space, the Little Drom Store which sells vintage bric-a-bracs. Together, the space [...]

Home-made garlic bread!

Posted by: alkanphel on: June 8, 2010

One fine day, I suddenly decided make my own garlic bread after seeing a bottle of “instant garlic bread” powder in the supermarket. Since the ingredients of the powder looked quite basic, I should be able to replicate them at home. And so that’s what I did with some garlic power, chopped garlic, butter and [...]

Chikuwa Tei

Posted by: alkanphel on: June 6, 2010

The long awaited return of the nazi chef! About 9 months back, this infamous chef closed down his eatery and retired, as I blogged about earlier. That’s when everyone found out that Wasabi Tei was actually a franchise and his eatery remained opened but taken over by some other people. As a result, the standard has [...]

Nando’s Singapore

Posted by: alkanphel on: June 5, 2010

Everybody knows about Nando’s Singapore which just opened here about a month ago, and has ridiculously long queues for dinner time. This time I happened to pass by Nando’s before noon and saw that there was no queue so I popped in to have lunch with my friend.

In a corner coffeeshop at Tai Thong Crescent sits Zheng Yi Hainanese Beef Noodles, one of the few remaining beef noodle stalls that serve it the Hainanese style.
