Opened alongside Osteria Mozza at the end of 2010, Pizzeria Mozza is one of the two signature restaurants that the celebrity chef Mario Batali was courted by MBS to set up operations in the Shoppes.
Just behind the busy alley of Jonker Street, along the more sedate street of Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, one can find the Coconut House. With a name that suits a Hawaiian beach more than the streets of Melaka, Coconut House is actually an casual Italian eatery that serves up authentic wood-fired pizzas as their specialty.
After the success of the previous pizza making adventure, I decided to make even more pizzas this time, for my family and my aunt’s family. You can see some of the ingredients we used below.
After reading up on traditional Italian style of pizza making, I decided to have a go at making one together with a friend! This is not going to be a very structured post as we were quite busy making the ingredients for the pizzas so I just snapped photos here and there.
I made 2 kinds of pizzas: a more traditional pizza Margherita with some modifications and a seafood based pizza. Both of them didn’t really adhere to any fixed recipe as we just bought random stuff from the supermarkets and whatever was at home.
It starts with a bowl of flour and 3 other ingredients for the flour: salt, extra virgin olive oil, and instant yeast.
There is this little Italian place called Cugini located at 87 Club Street which was highly recommended for its pasta so I decided to go and give it a try.
It was definitely the right choice because the pasta was amazing. Not surprised since it was made by 2 Italians called Mauro and Gerri.
